One morning, as I stood beneath the vast winter sky, I looked up and saw it—an image formed in the clouds. A bird in flight, its wings stretched wide, its eye sharp with focus—almost as if it carried a message just for me. The sun rested just above its head, casting light upon its path.


Strength. Wisdom. Determination. Purpose.

I felt it instantly. This wasn’t just a passing cloud—it was a message. A reflection of my own journey, of the storms I have weathered, of the life I have lived in constant survival mode. The bird wasn’t just flying; it was hunting, focused, moving with intention. It knew what it needed, and it pursued it without hesitation.


I have spent much of my life in this same mode—fighting, pushing, surviving. Always caring for others, always holding everything together. But today, something shifted. As I acknowledged this deep truth, as I whispered the words “I need to stop fighting and trust,” the wind answered. A sudden gust, swirling the snow into a mini tornado just outside my sliding door, as if the universe itself had been waiting for me to surrender.

And in that moment, I did.



A flood of emotions followed. A release so deep, so raw, that it left my body heavy. Tears came, unbidden but necessary. I had held on for so long. But today, the sky reminded me: I don’t have to fight anymore. I am allowed to flow.


Insight: A Life of Survival Does Not Have to Be a Life of Struggle

For so long, I have equated strength with effort. I thought resilience meant constantly pushing forward, always holding everything together. But what if true strength is knowing when to let go? What if wisdom isn’t in the fight, but in the ability to trust the currents?


That bird, high in the sky, wasn’t resisting the wind—it was moving with it. And I realize now that I, too, am being called to stop resisting. To soften. To trust that I don’t have to figure it all out alone.
